Sweet Flea-Market Finds Again, Again:

~So, I made it out to the The Dirt-Mall this past Saturday and spent a whopping THREE DOLLARS!

Here's what I got:

~Three for a dollar comics... Can't go wrong with any random Swamp Thing issues. Especially if Grant Morrison and Mark Millar's names are on the cover!
AVP: Duel #'s 1 and 2 of 2 (which was a very nice, quick, little hit-all-the-highlights-and-we're-out story).
Firestorm Vs. The Phantom Stranger?  -Take my money!
And 2099 A.fter D.oom... sure- it was the beginning of the end... but still: Spider-Man 2099!!!

Also, because I'm a super sophisticated guy- I picked up this old, and sun-damaged, gem for a buck:

-I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the Kings of England, and I quote the fights historical,
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted too with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news---
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse...

Yeah, you may not know this about me- but I am a HUGE Gilbert and Sullivan fan...

I implore you to expose yourselves to some class, rather than just exposing yourselves!

  1. i had that AVP 2 issue mini back when i used to pick up a lot of the Darkhorse stuff that had to do with ALIENS, Predator and Terminator. i can't hardly remember anything about that mini story wise but the art work was pretty damn good. i never cared for the whole Marvel 2099 spin off titles but i'm sure that Firestorm/Phantom Stranger issue will be a pretty good read.

    1. -It's a pretty "standard" book... Distress call, abandoned Planet, Marines, Predators, Aliens, fighting, a hybrid, unlikely team-up, everyone dies... THE END. But it was a fun little diversion. Quick read... hits the highlights...
I only cared about Spider-Man 2099 because of Peter David, and X-Men 2099 because of Ron Lim... And yup- Firestorm / Phantom Stranger was very cool!

  3. British comedy is the best! Blackadder, Ab Fab, Some Mothers Do Have Em, and thousands of others, are my secret addiction. I remember the major general riff from high school days - nice find!

As for the comic book haul, I'm looking forward to what Dark Horse does with its revival of the Alien/Predator/Prometheus line this year. They need to bang more drums about it and not just exclusive CBR ones. The crossovers they did back in the 90's with A and P were awesome. Batman Judge Dredd and Magnus Robot Fighter especially.

    1. -Love me some Blackadder! My ex liked Ab Fab- tried to get me to watch it... I could not stand it. My favorite is a show called 'Allo! Allo! Being in The States- I used to always catch PBS airing it back in the day... But now, with the modern marvel that is The Internet; it's not hard at all for me to find awesome new British shows! Like Plebs, Sirens, Badults, Drifters, No Heroics, The Bletchley Circle, and Yonderland.

Yeah, I have not even heard about the Aliens / Predator revival going on! -So they DO need to bang more drums about it. Dudge, Predator versus Magnus Robot Fighter was my all-time favorite! I tout that crossover often. The Batman / Dredd books were very good as well, I have the first three crossovers they did... I know there were a few more after that, though.
